Stephen Flemming

Stephen Flemming has been with the learning facilitator team during several years since the Park System Leadership program’s launch in 2005. Stephen recently worked as the Park Superintendent of Elk Island National Park with Parks Canada. Stephen is also a biologist: his PhD is from Queen’s University and he has become an expert in citizen science, developing over 10,000 hours of volunteer effort in parks.  Stephen has:

  • worked as faculty member with universities including Acadia, Dalhousie and Memorial
  • worked on several environmental boards, councils and teams
  • authored or co-authored over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Stephen has recently left Parks Canada to work as the Executive Director of Sherbrooke Village: a large living history site in his home province of Nova Scotia.  Sherbrooke Village is Nova Scotia’s largest Museum, a site of living history from the late 1800s.
